Procedure
The portrait process begins with a discussion of the wishes of the client. Diane considers the input of the client an important part of the creative process. Initially, topics to be discussed will include the size and complexity of the portrait, which medium will best express the personality of the subject, and whether the portrait is to be informal or formal. A price will be given after this initial discussion.
At the first photo sitting, which can usually take from one to two hours, about 100 photos will be taken, with various gestures and lighting conditions. Diane will make recommendations for appropriate poses, but the final decision is always up to the client. If none are satisfactory, Diane will return for another sitting.
After a selection has been made of the image and background, Diane will provide an initial "rough" color sketch to help the client visualize the final piece. After approval of the sketch, arrangements will be made for the delivery of the final portrait, with an approximate date of completion.
