Janice Frederick has loved to draw since childhood. From the age of 10, she attended Mrs. Thompson's Saturday art classes until she began college. She studied Architecture at the University of Cincinnati and graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor Degree of Architecture. Throughout her college years, she always found time to schedule a painting, sculpture, or fashion drawing class within her architecture curriculum.
During her professional career as an architect and in the construction industry, Ms. Frederick was able to continue to paint and completed several commissioned portraits. When her husband's work took the family to live in Togo, West Africa and to Romania, Eastern Europe, she established studios and was able to exclusively concentrate on her art.
Ms. Frederick continues to hone her skills by taking classes and workshops with esteemed portrait artists including Daniel Green, Ellen Cooper, and Kerry Dunn at the Studio Incamminati. She has participated in workshops with acclaimed artists such as Richard McKinley, Maggie Price, and Diana De Santis. These workshops focused on Landscape studies and Plein Air excursions into the countryside.
Ms. Frederick is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Maryland Pastel Society, Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, and a cooperative member of Arts by the Bay Gallery, Havre de Grace, Maryland. She enjoys entering "Plein Air Competitions" in various locations.
When indoors, she works in her studio, Faces 'n Places Art Studio, in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
