Patty's formal education began at the school of design at NCSU and continued at Salem college where she earned a ba in studio art and graduated magna cum laude and with honors in art. She won the Rondthaler award for art and has received numerous other awards for her paintings. she studied portrait painting with some of the best artists in the field including Susan Lyon, Scott Burdick, Mary Minifie, Tom Edgerton, George Thompson, Dawn Whitelaw, and Rose Frantzen.

Portrait Fees

Each portrait is as individual as the person who is being painted. Patty’s commissioned oil portraits start at $3000.00 for a life size head and shoulders with a simple background. Three-quarter and full length portraits add proportionally to the cost. Complex backgrounds and clothing, multiple subjects and pets are also considered in the final price.

This will all be discussed and agreed upon at the time of the commission and the price will be stated in the contract. Not included in the price on the contract are travel expenses, framing, sales tax, and shipping where these are applicable.
