Nationally recognized portraitist, Linda Harris Reynolds has been creating memorable portraits for families and individuals for the past twenty-eight years from her studio in historic Centreville, Delaware north of Wilmington.
Working mostly in oils, pastels, and charcoals, Linda’s lively painting style serves to enhance the personality of her subjects, and reflects a blending of Classical Realism and Impressionism.
Most recently, Ms. Reynolds’ portrait work was featured in the international Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine’s May / June and Nov / Dec 2016 issues, in center spread / photo essays; entitled “More Than Faces” and “Today’s Masters – The Enduring Appeal of Youth,” respectively.
The Delaware Division of the Arts just awarded Ms. Reynolds Honorable Mention in the “Established Artist” category for “Works on Paper” in 2017. They also honored Linda with a solo exhibition in the State’s Carvel Building, which showcased her figurative and conceptual work in a show called “Fazes” in 2014.
In 2008 and 2009, Ms. Reynolds received two “Honorable Mentions” in the highly competitive international Portrait Society of America’s Member’s Only Competition; one for her drawing, “the Guitarist” and the other for her oil painting, “the Little Sprout” in the Head and Shoulders category.
She was recently invited to be a mentor in the Portrait Society of America’s 2017 Cecilia Beaux mentoring program. This program, designed to foster professional growth and relationship between an established artist (mentor) and an emerging artist (mentee), in the field of fine art portraiture and figurative painting.
Linda received two “Best Portfolio” awards at their annual conferences; one in Atlanta, Georgia in 2013 and the other in Dallas, Texas in 2006.
Ms. Reynolds was also selected to participate in the prestigious New York Portrait Society’s 2002 Juried Exhibition. This international show was held in the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Linda has received commissions throughout the east coast, and has been serving as the Delaware State Ambassador to the Portrait Society of America since 2009. Currently taking on new commissioned work at her Centreville studio, she is represented by the national portrait agency, Portrait South, as well as the Hardcastle Galleries, and Carspecken-Scott Gallery.
In 2011, Linda started The Centreville Art Students League, where she teaches classical portrait and figure drawing classes seasonally.
Locally she has had five one-woman shows on the Wilmington Art Loop, mostly notable the Mezzanine Gallery of the Carvel Building, and the Tower Hill School’s DuPont Art Center. Her group exhibitions include the Hagley Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Designer’s Showcase, as well as shows in New York City and Rome, Italy.
Ms. Reynolds’ trained at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, The University of the Arts, and The Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. She also received specialized training in portrait and figure painting at: the Art Students League, The National Academy of Fine Arts, The Grand Central Academy in New York City, as well as the Studio Incamminati, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy and Jersey City Mana Arts.
