Meg Godfrey creates portraits in oil on hand woven Belgian linen and uses only the
finest quality materials. It is her goal to create an heirloom-quality work of art that
will be enjoyed for generations to come.
The process begins by meeting with the client to discuss ideas for the portrait. The
basic composition (size, pose, format, type of clothing, tone, background, and lighting)
is determined and a series of photographs will be taken. Often Meg will draw upon a
combination of elements from various photographs to create the final work.
Each painting she does requires several months to complete because of the drying times
of the many paint layers applied. The right frame for the portrait will be chosen, and
the work will be finished in the frame to insure a completely harmonious unit.
In keeping with standard portrait professional practices, Meg requires a deposit of
40% in order to begin the work. The balance is due when the completed portrait is accepted
by the client. Every reasonable effort will be made to create a portrait that satisfies
the client completely.
