Traditional portrait painting has always been the main interest of Earl Guedry. At ten years of age he received his first painting kit and one of his first subjects was a self portrait of the young Louisiana portrait artist.

As a teenager his summers were taken up with art classes in which he managed a few portraits, even one in knife painting. But his love of traditional portraits returned him to the brush.

While in college, he was able to get several portrait commissions, which was very encouraging. Although abstract expressionism was in vogue at the University of Southwestern Louisiana at the time, the usual life and drawing classes and color design classes were very useful to anyone considering traditional portraiture as a profession.

After graduating from college, Earl Guedry worked in a stained glass studio as designer and painter for a few years, and continued to try to adapt the newer techniques to traditional portrait painting.

Earl Guedry paints private portraits and corporate portraits. He paints doctors, lawyers and Indian chiefs. Living in Louisiana, he has painted traditional portraits for clients from California in the U.S. eastward to Germany, in Europe.

His children portraits are endearing and his animal paintings (which are sometimes included in traditional portraits) are captivating.

Earl Guedry uses the finest and most advanced artists' materials to produce works of art that are as permanent as they are beautiful.
