(click any photo below to see a large view)

Rushworth's official portrait of Washington State Governor Gary Locke was unveiled in the State Capitol by the Governor and his family.

Rushworth talks about her goal of creating a portrait that goes far beyond just showing a surface likeness, but also captures the spirit of the subject. Governor Gregoire and Governor Locke look on.

Governor Locke talks about having his portrait painted. The unveiling event was covered by seven area newspapers and three television stations, and was attended by three Governors, two Chiefs of Staff, the Director of the State Capital Museum, along with Locke family members and friends.

The portrait will hang in the State Capitol Building and will become part of the permanent collection of the State of Washington Historical Archives.
"It was such a privilege to be chosen for this prestigious commission," says Rushworth. "Gary Locke is a man of honor and integrity who dedicated decades of his life to public service in order that he might better the lives of others. I have truly enjoyed working with him and his exceptional staff in the planning of this portrait and thoroughly enjoyed painting it."
