Leila Ashton's portraits are currently held in numerous collections throughout the Southeast and from coast to coast. An accomplished artist as a teenager, she continued to study and produce art alongside her career as a music teacher. In recent years, however, demand for her work has allowed her to produce art full-time, work she loves to do. Largely self-taught, she has also studied with some of today's finest portrait artists, such as Daniel Greene, Constance Flavel Pratt, Paul Leveille and Vincent Chiaramonte, among others.
A frequent finalist in national and international juried exhibitions, Leila Ashton has twice been a finalist in the Portrait Society of America's 'Members Only' Competition. She has received First Place and Exceptional Merit Awards in exhibitions of the Portrait Society of Atlanta and the Southeastern Pastel Society, and has received awards in the exhibitions of several other arts organizations. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, and a Member of Excellence of the Southeastern Pastel Society. Her most recent exhibition has been a one-person show in the J.C. Williams Gallery at Southern Adventist University near Chattanooga, Tennessee.
