"I cannot remember a time when painting people was not a compelling force for my creative nature. Each painting brings a new beginning in the discovery of the complexities of the human spirit. Each portrait is a display of what the subject shares with humanity and a tribute to the uniqueness of the individual." –Linda Vise
A believer in the strength and permanence of classic design, Linda Vise draws inspiration from the Old Masters. Each of her portraits is painted not as a sentimental effort but as a classic piece of art that represents the integrity and the charm of each subject.
After painting portraits for twenty years, Linda's portrait paintings are in homes and institutions from California to up and down the East coast and all over the South. Included in her public and official work are commissions for the New Orleans Opera Association, Furman University and Delgado University.
The artist holds a degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and has attended Memphis State University, Memphis Academy of Fine Art and and New Orleans Academy of Art. To further her knowledge of her chosen medium Linda studied under well-known portrait painters Frank Covino, Daniel Greene, Nelson Shanks and Allan Banks.
