Initial Consultation
A portrait begins with a meeting to discuss the details of your commission, including the overall mood you would like conveyed and a time frame for its creation.
First Sitting
The first sitting includes a photography session requiring attention to hairstyle, attire, backdrop, props, and lighting. These photographs are for the purpose of documenting the subject and will be used as references during the painting process.
In almost all circumstances, the artist will work from her own photographs combined with live sittings. If photos prepared by the artist or live sittings are not possible, reference material provided by the client may be taken into consideration.
Depending on the requirements of the commission, the artist will likely wish to prepare sketches and color studies of the subject during this initial sitting.
You will be presented with sketches for the proposed painting, along with the artist's recommendations. Your comments are always welcome, and are considered a valuable part of the process.
Studio Work and Follow-up Sittings
Once the sketch proposal is accepted, the majority of the work will be done in the artist's studio. In many cases, follow-up sittings may be necessary to complete the likeness.
Delivery
Once the work is complete and approved by you, full payment is due upon delivery. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. Framing advisement and associated framing services are available for an additional fee.
Fees
Each portrait is unique. Size and cost are specific to your commission. Framing, shipping, travel, & accommodations (for out of area clients), and taxes may apply. Special requests, such as a complex background/setting, multiple subjects, introduction of different materials (gold leaf, for example) may also result in additional fees.
A deposit is required before commencement of the portrait, and the remainder of the fee is due upon completion.
Pigments and drawing media are professional-grade and lightfast. Oil paintings will be created on the finest archival quality oil-primed Belgian linen or prepared aluminum panel. These choices ensure that your investment will last for many generations to come.
Please feel free to inquire with the artist for specific details regarding commission costs, or with any further questions you may have.
