Life is extremely complex and mysterious to me, yet I feel a tremendous creative, sensitive poetry from it. When I produce a Portrait, it is my way of capturing, learning and understanding this poetry and my way of expressing it, hopefully to inspire another as I have been inspired.

Jeri Janis is a nationally recognized artist who paints portraits with the intent to capture the individual by gesture, expression and composition in easy and natural poses with exceptional likeness using impressionism/ expressionism and realism techniques. Her portrait work is in private and corporate collections around the world. She has numerous awards, many solo and group gallery shows, has lectured and given demonstrations.

Inspired by her mother, a fine arts major, Janis began formal training at the South Bend Art Institute (for children), '57 overseen by Indiana University, elected to the I. U. BFA program, '67-'71 was granted private studio to study with grad students and abroad studies through Temple University at Tyler School of Art, Rome, Italy. Indiana University is a School for Figure Study and artists coming from this area are known for Hoosier Impressionism. Additional design/art studies: George Mason University, Georgetown University, George Washington University.
